Amazon is in discussions to invest more than $10bn in OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. According to reporting by the Guardian, citing The Information, the potential deal could push OpenAI’s valuation above $500bn and further tighten the link between large-scale AI development and cloud infrastructure.
OpenAI announced that over one million companies are now actively paying for its platform – the fastest growth in B2B platform history. Customers include banks, retail chains, and pharmaceutical giants. Interestingly, the numbers are growing partly thanks to regular ChatGPT users.
OpenAI is building a payment system so people can buy stuff directly through ChatGPT without leaving the chat. According to Reuters reports, merchants will pay the AI company commissions on sales. It’s a new way to make money after losing $5 billion last year despite hitting $10 billion in revenue.
