Social network, Instagram is working on technology to block screenshots in chat conversations. The restriction specifically targets media that can only be viewed once. This could be particularly beneficial for businesses that share sensitive information via direct messages, such as discount codes, special offers, or exclusive product previews. The feature will ensure that materials are not copied or misused.

Social networks are striving to increase user privacy protection and control over personal content, and this innovation could significantly impact how users interact with ephemeral content on the platform. The e-commerce segment would likely feel the impact as well – this feature could bring certain advantages in securing privacy in communication between businesses and customers.

“For now, this feature is still in development, and Instagram hasn’t officially announced its implementation. It seems the platform is carefully considering the balance between increased privacy and user convenience,” reports Swipe Insight.

Prohibiting screenshots could change how users save or remember information shared in chats. It may be important for businesses to adapt – for example, by providing more permanent forms of communication. At the same time, a situation may arise where users seek alternative methods to capture or save chat content.
