Two New Divisions from January

Starting next January, PostNL’s current parcels business becomes two separate units. E-commerce handles regular online shopping deliveries. Platforms takes care of other logistics work.

The company says this split will make things run smoother and help it grow outside the Netherlands.

Where the Money Goes

PostNL will spend €150 million every year starting in 2026 on:

  • Better tech and data systems
  • More pickup points away from homes
  • Automated sorting and handling
  • Improved delivery networks

What They Want to Achieve

By 2028, PostNL expects:

  • More than €4 billion in revenue
  • Over €175 million in operating profit

Finance chief Linde Jansen told investors the company is “focused on disciplined execution, margin improvement, and capital efficiency.” She said the investments in automation and digital tools will “build a resilient foundation for long-term value creation” across both new divisions.

PostNL announced the strategy changes at its investor day on Wednesday, 17th of September 2025.

Impact on E-commerce Market

This restructuring comes at a time of growing competition among European logistics companies. The split of parcel services could enable PostNL to better adapt to the needs of online retailers and platform solutions.

Investments in automation and digital capabilities may strengthen PostNL’s position in the last-mile delivery segment, which is crucial for the e-commerce sector.
