Smart Lockers Against Failed Deliveries
Citibox from Valencia was founded in 2015 with the goal of solving one of the most common problems – failed deliveries. The company designed a system of smart lockers in residential building portals where major logistics companies can leave packages. Today it has over 50,000 such lockers throughout Spain.
When a package is in the locker, Citibox sends a notification to the user, who can pick it up anytime using a code from the app. Both usage and maintenance of the lockers are completely free for end customers. In 2024, Citibox acquired logistics company Celeritas.
Flexible Time Slots
Paack was founded in Dubai by Spanish entrepreneurs and entered the Spanish market in 2015 after an agreement with El Corte Inglés, offering them two-hour delivery for online orders.
With Paack, companies can offer their customers the choice of preferred time slots, increasing flexibility and reducing waiting times. The service operates in a hundred cities across four countries. Customers can track their package and courier in real time.
After the good experience with El Corte Inglés, Paack now works with companies like Leroy Merlin, Fnac, Zalando, and MediaMarkt. In 2024, it announced a capital increase of €21.7 million from current investors with Infravia and Unbound as leaders, supported by BBVA in credit form.
It recently launched its own pickup network PaackGo with 1,200 points in Spain.

In 2022, they closed their first investment round of €1.2 million and later secured additional funding for expansion into Portugal, France, and Germany. The last mile represents the most complex part of the logistics chain – transport from distribution center directly to the end customer after online purchase. Whether through smart lockers, flexible time slots, or specialized services, these Spanish companies prove there’s no single solution to last-mile delivery challenges.
