The Difference Between Popularity and Performance
The most popular publishing days are not necessarily the most successful ones.
- Tuesday dominates: averaging 9.86 million views and 254,000 likes.
- Golden hour is 4:00 PM: Shorts achieve up to 24.9 million views and 797,000 likes here.
- Saturday at 4:00 PM proved to be the best time for combining both likes and views.
- Length matters: videos over 40 seconds were 33% more engaging than shorter ones.
Many creators stick to routines – for example, on Thursday mornings around 8:00 AM, up to one-fifth of all Shorts are uploaded. However, data shows that the most common publishing time may not be the most successful.

Off-peak Beats Prime Time
Traditionally, Shorts are published between 7:00 AM–12:00 PM, with peak hours being 8:00–10:00 AM. But the analysis proves the opposite: posting outside regular hours pays off exceptionally well.
- Off-peak (midnight–7:00 AM and 11:00 AM–11:00 PM) brought an average of 219,000 likes and 8.7 million views.
- Peak (8:00–10:00 AM) performed lower: only 121,000 likes and 6.2 million views.
- Comments follow the same trend: off-peak 746 vs. peak 418.
Less competition means a greater chance that your audience will notice, watch, and engage with your video.
What This Means for Brands and E-shops
If your goal is to reach more people and increase engagement, it’s worth forgetting about routine mornings. Tuesday and Saturday at 4:00 PM are peak moments, but even more important is trying off-peak times, where your video won’t compete with as much competition.
Not only social media, but YouTube Shorts are now a battlefield for attention. Creativity can set you apart, but if you publish a video at the wrong time, the audience won’t even see it. Choosing the right publishing time is therefore just as important as the content itself.
