Boost Your TikTok Shop Performance Score with New Category Benchmarks

With effect from yesterday, March 13, 2025, TikTok completed a major update to its Shop Performance Score system. The new approach now compares your seller performance to other sellers in the same product listing category, rather than to the marketplace as a whole.

Important Changes Described

The change means that “your score will be compared to other sellers in your product listing category, instead of the entire market, to help you get a more accurate picture and useful tips related to your business.”

The steps involved in the implementation process are as follows:

  • Every Shop Performance Score (SPS) metric is now compared to benchmarks that are pertinent to your particular product category
  • The product category with the most delivered orders over the previous ninety days serves as the benchmark
  • Some sellers may observe changes in their overall SPS as a result of this adjustment

Implications For Sellers

Sellers don’t need to do anything; the transition happens on its own. These new category-specific benchmarks have already been used in your Shop Performance Score calculations since yesterday, March 13, 2025.

Just go to your Shop Performance dashboard in the TikTok Seller Centre to see the most recent calculation details.

Concerning the Shop Performance Rating

For those who are not familiar with the idea, the Shop Performance Score is a tool that assists store owners in evaluating and improving their ability to interact with customers and keep them as loyal customers.

The Star Shop badge, access to affiliate marketing, campaigns, co-funded free shipping, live giveaways, and enhanced visibility to potential customers are just a few benefits that come with earning a ‘Good’ or higher rating.

Shops that have completed at least 30 orders in the last 90 days and have no orders that have been flagged as fraudulent are the only ones eligible for the score.

For more info, please check the documentation for the TikTok Shop Seller Centre, which contains all the details regarding these changes.
