Retail and Tech: Mercadona’s Digital Push vs Limited Startup Presence

Mercadona stands as the only retail company on the list that sustains its value of $3.011 billion after a 33% increase and announced plans to spend €250 million from now until 2028 on its digital transformation.

The rankings show minimal presence of technology startups except for Glovo, which appears as the only new-generation firm at position 22 with a value of $587 million.

Global Perspective: Spain’s $115B Brand Value in World Rankings

Spain’s $115.589 billion brand value shows wide strength across the domestic market. France takes the top spot with a massive $398.845 billion in top brand value, followed by Germany with $377.390 billion and India with $345.780 billion.

Japan ($200.485 billion) and Canada ($183.842 billion) are well above Spain, but the latter holds stronger ground than several key markets, including Brazil ($72.520 billion), Mexico ($68.308 billion), and South Africa ($29.744 billion).

This positioning indicates that although Spanish fashion brands are well placed, there is much scope for growth to challenge the world’s leading brand powerhouses.
