UK Ad Spend Reaches £9.2bn in Q1 This Year

The British advertising scene broke past first-quarter spending records. New figures from the Advertising Association and WARC show an amazing 9.3% increase in ad spending, therefore driving the whole amount to a startling £9.2 billion between January and March.

Driven mostly by the constant expansion of digital advertising, this amazing surge in digital & online marketing exceeded earlier estimates by over three percentage points. Online channels today hold an astounding 79.7% of the overall advertising expenditure for the United Kingdom.

Ahead, industry analysts see the upswing carrying on. With a 9.2% increase expected in the second quarter, ad investment might rise to £9.7 billion.

Experts now forecast a 7.7% annual growth rate, so the whole year’s view has been changed upward. By year’s end, this would boost the digital & online marketing in the UK to a stunning £39.4 billion.

There are several industries ready for especially great performances:

  • Out of home advertising: +12.5%
  • Search advertising: + 10.1%
  • Radio: +5.5%

Driven by a summer full of sporting events, Broadcaster Video On- Demand (BVOD) is especially set to break the £1 billion mark for the first time.
